“Studies and case reports have demonstrated that rifampin accelerates the metabolism of several drugs, including oral anticoagulants, oral contraceptives, glucocorticoids, digitoxin, quinidine , methadone, hypoglycemics, and barbiturates.”
“Serum drug concentration data from the first of the two patients described herein suggest that rifampin may directly increase the metabolism of quinidine and thereby negate the influence of quinidine on the serum digoxin concentration (SDC).”
“However, only ∼40% inhibition of P-gp-mediated efflux of quinidine was observed with coperfusion of rifampin , even at a 2-fold higher rifampin concentration (1000 μM).”
