Possible Interaction: Nitric Oxide and Vitamin B 6

supplement:

Vitamin B 6

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

Magnesium and vitamin B6 modulates the level of NO in the cell, both of which are deficient in migraineurs.
Medical hypotheses  •  2011  |  View Paper
Vitamin B6 moderates intracellular nitric oxide (NO) production and extracellular Mg is required for NO release from the cell, so that a deficiency of these nutrients results in increased NO production in the cell and reduced release from the cell.

It was observed that the ‘anxiolytic‐like’ effect of pyridoxine in mice was counteracted by the NO donor and potentiated by the NO inhibitors.

Here, we report that NO lowers K+ channel AKT1-mediated plant K+ uptake by modulating vitamin B6 biosynthesis.
These findings reveal a previously unidentified pivotal role of NO in modulating the homeostasis of vitamin B6 and potassium nutrition in plants, and shed light on the mechanism of NO in plant acclimation to environmental changes.
Together, our results suggest that NO decreases K+ absorption by promoting the synthesis of vitamin B6 PLP, which further represses the activity of K+ channel AKT1 in Arabidopsis.
We showed that NO increased PLP and decreased K+ levels in plant.

PLP significantly increased constitutive synthesis of NO and prevented reperfusion disturbances of the heart function after ischemia.
