Possible Interaction: Naringin and Doxorubicin Hydrochloride

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

In contrast to Dox alone, Dox in combination with OPE or NR showed less systemic toxicity and decreased oxidative stress fraction circulation, however, OPE seemed as more protective.
In vivo experiments revealed that the use of Dox simultaneously with OPE or NR not only can reduce the tumor size but also the body weight of the treated nude mice were maintained in comparison to Dox alone.
OPE or NR can protect the cellular toxicity of Dox in vitro mainly by decreasing cellular apoptosis of ESCC CSCs however S-phase cell cycle arrest has not been affected significantly.

Conclusion: NR can be used in combination with Dox due to its high cardioprotective effect against Dox-induced cardiomyopathy.

Moreover, pre-treatment with naringin prior to doxorubicin increased the sensitivity to the drug.
Naringin inhibited the doxorubicin-stimulated ATPase activity demonstrating that naringin may interact directly with the transporter.

In the in vivo antitumor test, the combined application of DOX and NIN more effectively inhibited the growth of HeLa cervical tumor and promoted cell apoptosis.
Our data demonstrated that the combined application of DOX and NIN more effectively inhibited the cell proliferation than single agent in vitro.
Taken together, all the results indicated that the combined application of DOX and NIN could inhibit the growth of HeLa cervical cancer cells and attenuate the toxicity of DOX, which suggested NIN could be used as a combined agent for the prevention and treatment of cervical cancer.
