Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

The results suggest that spironolactone administration decreases the renal excretion of magnesium and potassium in an equivalent manner.

In the control group, oral administration of spironolactone (200 mg daily for 5 days) resulted in a significant decrease in the mean renal excretion of both magnesium and potassium.
The study suggests that spironolactone decreases magnesium excretion in normal subjects and antagonizes the magnesiuric effect of frusemide in patients with liver cirrhosis and secondary aldosteronism.

Spironolactone reduced the urinary magnesium in 2 patients with primary aldosteronism.

Animals treated with magnesium after the 176-dB SPL exposure had a significant reduction in hair cell loss in the basal region.
The threshold shifts of the 170-dB SPL group that received magnesium were significantly lower than those of controls after 2 and 7 days of recovery, but no significant difference was evidenced at 14 days in this group, nor at any time in the 176-dB SPL group.
