Possible Interaction: Linoleic Acid and Beta Carotene

supplement:

Linoleic Acid

supplement:

Beta Carotene

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

Beta-carotene and lycopene supplementation appear to interact with the metabolism of linoleic acid , the "essential" fatty acid, resulting in either an increase (beta-carotene) or decrease (lycopene) in its plasma concentration.
Supplementation with beta-carotene increased plasma linoleic acid but left the polyunsaturated:saturated (P:S) fatty acid ratio unaltered.

The antioxidant efficiency of the modified polymers was evaluated by typical spectrophometric methods, such as the bleaching of radicals DPPH(•) and ABTS(•+), and the inhibition of the enzymatically induced coupled oxidation of linoleic acid and betacarotene.

Fruits, vegetables, and commercial frozen pulps (FP) consumed in the Brazilian diet were analyzed for antioxidant activities using two different methods, one that determines the inhibition of copper-induced peroxidation of liposome and another based on the inhibition of the co-oxidation of linoleic acid and beta-carotene.

The individual isoenzyme lipoxygenase-2, a constituent of the heterogeneous lipoxygenase system (EC 1.13.11.12) which catalyzes coupled oxidation of beta-carotene in the presence of linoleic acid , was isolated from pea seeds and its properties were characterized.
