supplement:

Taurine

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

In an OVA‐induced AR animal model, the increased levels of nose rubbing, histamine , immunoglobulin E, TSLP, and interleukin IL‐1&bgr; were dramatically reduced by the administration of taurine.

Taurine increases the volume of gastric juice stimulated by histamine on 129,3% (P<0,001), hydrochloric acid - by 151,4% (P<0,001), pepsine - by 172,2% (P<0,001), total proteins - by 60,5% (P<0,001) as compared with control.

The data obtained indicate that taurine affects gastric secretion stimulated by histamine and realization of this effect occurs through M- and N-cholino- and B-adrenoreceptors.
We showed that taurine did not cause acid gastric secretion out of digestion, but increased the gastric secretion stimulated by histamine , increased the contents of gastric acid and pepsine in gastric secretes.
When administered either 15 minutes or two hours prior histamine injection, taurine affected the Na+ and K+ concentrations in gastric juice.

Taurine (10 mM) not only failed to induce slow APs, but actually decreased ISO (10(-8) M), HIS (10(-4) M), or TEA (10 mM) induced slow APs and contractions transiently (about 30s-2 min after the addition of taurine).

In this region, taurine also reduced the stimulatory effects on cyclic AMP formation of adenosine, norepinephrine, and histamine , but not of depolarizing agents.

The locally administreated taurine significantly increased wound tensile strength by decreasing the MDA and histamine levels and prevented the degranulation of the mast cells.
