Possible Interaction: Glycerol and Infliximab

supplement:

Glycerol

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

Addition of rather low concentrations of glycerol to the medium increased Ca2 +-ATPase activity in the saponin-permeabilized cells; the maximal effect was observed at 10% glycerol.
Subsequent increase in glycerol concentrations above 20% was accompanied by inhibition of Ca2 +-ATPase activity.

In this report it is shown that, in the presence of glycerol, Ca2 + strongly stimulates phosphatase activity in a dose-dependent manner.
It is concluded that the synergistic effect of glycerol and Ca2 + is related to opposite long-term hydration effects on the substrate binding domain and the Ca2+ binding domain.

The stabilising effect of metal ions (Ca2+ or Mg2+, 5 mmol l−1) or polyols (propylene glycol and glycerol , 10 % v/v) was investigated, showing that the presence of Ca2 + increases the enzyme stability significantly.

In native vesicles, the stimulation promoted by low concentrations of glycerol at low concentrations of Ca2 + is accompanied by inhibition of active Ca2+ transport, indicating that, in these conditions, the polyol uncouples ATPase activity and ATP-driven Ca2+ influx.

In comparison with standard buffer conditions (100 mM-Pipes buffer, pH 6.5, containing 0.1 mM-EGTA, … rate and extent of exchange, and thus of dynamic instability, are suppressed by increasing the concentration of glycerol above 2 M. Exchange is enhanced … mM) or by the addition of Ca2+ (…).
