Possible Interaction: Fenofibrate and Vitamin E

supplement:

Vitamin E

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

CONCLUSIONS The combination of mi ronized fenofibrate 20 0 mg/day and vit amin E 40 0 IU/day tended to increase the resistance of non-HDL lipoproteins to copper-mediated oxidation, shown by a prolongation of the lag-time.
The lag-time increased further when fenofibrate and vitamin E were given in association. (
This protective effect of vitamin E tended to be amplified by micronized fenofibrate.

Three months of Vitamin E supplementation only improves LDL resistance to oxidation and addition to fenofibrate results in a slightly greater effect.

Coadministration of fenofibrate with α-tocopherol prolonged the lag phase to a greater extent than fenofibrate alone, showing a synergistic interaction between the two compounds.
Finally, the combination of fenofibrate and α-tocopherol was significantly more effective in modifying lipoprotein oxidation parameters than what was observed with α-tocopherol and bezafibrate or gemfibrozil.
Thus, in addition to its well-established effects on lipoprotein concentrations and atherogenic parameters, fenofibrate reduces the susceptibility of VLDL and LDL to oxidative modification and exerts its action synergistically with α-tocopherol.
