The EDTA treatment (1) promoted the loss of amino acids and materials absorbing at 260 mμ from the mycelium, (2) increased the sensitivity of induction to inhibition by actinomycin D , (3) inhibited the uptake of lysine and uridine from the induction buffer and (4) inhibited the synthesis of protein.
