Possible Interaction: Cysteine and Pyruvic Acid

supplement:

Cysteine

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

Authentic samples of the thiazine derivative have been prepared by interacting L-cysteine with bromopyruvic acid.

Approximately 90% of the pyruvic acid was degraded after 60 min in samples of 7 mM pyruvic acid supplemented with 10 mg/mL cysteine.
Degradation rates increased proportionally as fructose concentrations increased up to 70 mg/mL. Cysteine was found to degrade the pyruvic acid itself before the pyruvic acid could react with DNPH.

Based on the comparative proteome profiling, the formation of pyruvic acid , a newly formed byproduct in the engineered LPK7 strain, could be reduced by adding into the culture medium pantothenate and l-cysteine , which serve as precursors of CoA biosynthesis.
