Possible Interaction: Calcium Chloride and Epinephrine

Calcium Chloride

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

Endotoxemia plus calcium chloride at 25 mg/ml/hr also significantly blunted (30% decrease) the hypertensive response to 50 micrograms/kg EPI.
In endotoxin-treated rats, calcium chloride at 50 mg/ml/hr significantly blunted the hypertensive response to 10 micrograms/kg (73% decrease), 20 micrograms/kg (62% decrease) and 50 micrograms/kg (50% decrease) epinephrine.
Since calcium chloride significantly diminishes epinephrine's hypertensive effects in both normal and endotoxin-treated rats, the clinical use of calcium chloride along with epinephrine may not have a sound experimental basis.

In nephrectomized animals the addition of adrenalin to sodium chloride solutions or to mixtures of sodium chloride and calcium chloride solutions again increases the ascites and diminishes the amount of intestinal fluid in both sodium chloride and sodium chloride plus calcium chloride series.
In … of adrenalin to sodium chloride … sodium chloride and calcium chloride solutions increases the amount of urine and of ascites, and diminishes the intestinal fluid (this diminution takes place only with … sodium chloride and calcium chloride, the quantity of intestinal fluid remaining approximately unchanged in the sodium chloride series).
