Possible Interaction: Arachidonic Acid and Recombinant Human Chorionic Gonadotropin

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

hCG (25 mIU) increased the release of AA to 180+/-12% when compared with AA released from control cells, arbitrarily set as 100%.

AA potentiated the steroidogenic actions … low dosages of hCG (0.1 IU/ml), while with maximal gonadotropin (1-10 IU/ml) stimulation a high concentration of AA (400 microM) … steroid production in spite of elevated PGE2 synthesis, nor did it affect the PGE2 production obtained with AA-treated follicles.
In the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin hCG), AA had differential effects.

5, 8, 11, 14 Eicosatetraynoic acid (ETYA), a general inhibitor of AA metabolism, and Nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA), an inhibitor of the lipoxygenase pathway of AA metabolism, inhibited hCG induced T secretion while indomethacin, an inhibitor of cyclo-oxygenase pathway, had no effect on hCG induced T secretion.
AA also had a biphasic effect on hCG induced cyclic AMP secretion.
At low concentrations both PLC and AA (100 mU and 12.5 microM, respectively) augmented hCG induced T secretion, while at higher concentrations (PLC: 500 mU and AA: 200 microM) they inhibited steroid production.
