Possible Interaction: Arachidonic Acid and Interferon Gamma-1B

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

Treatment of the cells with IFN-gamma (300 U/ml) increased the release of [3H]arachidonic acid (AA) from prelabeled cells with a maximal effect at 12 h after stimulation.

HPLC analysis of the arachidonic acid (AA) metabolites released by monocytes showed that rIFN-gamma caused a reduction in the release of AA and products of the cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase pathways.
These data indicated that rIFN-gamma decreased eicosanoid production by inhibiting the release of AA from phospholipids.

Taken together these findings indicate that arachidonic acid metabolites, produced during mitogenic activation, are involved in the regulation of IFN-gamma production and suggest that, in our system, LTB4 exerts a positive modulating signal while PGE2 represents a negative signal.
