Possible Interaction: Adenosine and Nicorandil

supplement:

Adenosine

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

Nicorandil (0.3–3 mM) increased the level of AMP (100 μM)-primed dialysate adenosine in a concentration-dependent manner, and this effect was completely abolished by the guanylate cyclase inhibitor, methylene blue (100 μM), but not by the KATP channel blocker, glibenclamide (10 μM).

The present results revealed that SG‐86, like nicorandil , significantly enhanced the vasodepressor response to adenosine , probably in part through KATP channel activation, and that the activity of SG‐86 was about 10 times less potent than that of nicorandil.

The present result indicates that the enhancement of the adenosine action by nicorandil and cromakalim appears to occur at least partly through ATP‐sensitive K+ channel activation.

The present results suggest that low-dose nicorandil modifies the response to adenosine in interaction with low levels of endogenous neuropeptides such as VIP and CGRP, and that the reciprocal interaction is mediated partly through K(ATP) channel activation in vascular smooth muscle.
