Possible Interaction: Adenosine and Nedocromil

supplement:

Adenosine

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

Adenosine- and AMP-induced bronchoconstriction are both blocked by cromolyn sodium and nedocromil sodium, with the PD20FEV1 for the latter approximately four times lower than that of cromolyn sodium in atopic asthmatic patients and approximately 2.3 times lower than that of cromolyn sodium in nonatopic asthmatic patients.

In animals, nedocromil sodium can block the immediate bronchoconstriction induced by an antigen, adenosine and neurokinin A. Nedocromil sodium can also block the increase in bronchial responsiveness induced by antigen exposure.
Revue des maladies respiratoires  •  1992  |  View Paper
In asthmatic, but not normal, subjects, inhalation of adenosine causes a marked bronchoconstriction which may be reduced by the purinoceptor antagonist theophylline, sodium cromoglycate, nedocromil sodium, histamine, H1-antagonists and cyclo-oxygenase inhibitors.

When administered in a single dose, nedocromil can inhibit the effect of various stimuli: adenosine , SO2, cold air, smog, tachykinins, metabisulfite, exercise and antigen.

The bronchoconstriction caused by adenosine is inhibited by atropine, methysergide, sodium cromoglycate, nedocromil sodium, and ketotifen.
