Possible Interaction: 5-Hydroxytryptophan and Proglumide

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

In a 1-h feeding test the peripherally acting 5-HT antagonist, xylamidine , attenuated the reductions in food intake induced by 5-HT and 5-HTP but not fenfluramine.
Xylamidine reversed the effect of 5-HTP on eating rate, and induced a slight increase in bout size in its own right.

A central component to this inhibitory effect was suggested by the inability of xylamidine to significantly reduce the initial inhibitory effect of 5-HTP.
A peripheral component to the actions of 5-HTP was suggested by xylamidine blocking the CTAs induced by 5-HTP.
Xylamidine also prevented the persistent ethanol avoidance induced by 5-HTP , but was ineffective in antagonizing lithium-induced CTAs.
