Possible Interaction: 5-Hydroxytryptophan and Buspirone

Research Papers that Mention the Interaction

The suppressant effect of 5-hydroxytryptophan was antagonized or reversed by buspirone , a partial agonist at postsynaptic 5-HT1A receptors, and also by the "silent" 5-HT1A receptor antagonist WAY 100635, but not by the full agonist 8-OH-DPAT.

The decrease was due apparently to a reduced turnover of serotonin; the accumulation of 5-hydroxytryptophan after decarboxylase inhibition was also suppressed by buspirone , not only in hypothalamus but also in brain stem, hippocampus and striatum.
